Hoodie Sessions: ebook from Web Content
Turn a collection of web articles into a book you can read offline.
From web pages to one EPUB.
In this session we discuss the process of creating an eBook using web content, gathering posts from a favorite author, converting them into markdown format, and assembling them into an EPUB file. The tutorial emphasizes:
- the importance of using appropriate tools
- maintaining intermediate steps, and
- reviewing the final output for quality.

The workflow.
Find the articles
Start with the author archive, follow each article link, and remove duplicate destinations.
Make Markdown chapters
Use Webclaw to extract the text. Keep headings, captions, and links to the original articles while clearing away site clutter.
Restore the images
Recover the article images from the page HTML and use ImageMagick to resize them for an e-reader.
Build and review the EPUB
Use Pandoc to add the cover and table of contents, start each article on a new page, then inspect the finished book.
Explore the materials.
The ZIP contains the original prompt, methodology, Makefile reference, and Webclaw links. It does not include the extracted chapters, images, or finished EPUB.
